Students are the future of the MTT-S and the IMS. Each year the Steering Committee takes seriously the need to provide a program that encourages the professional growth of its future leaders. Opportunities at IMS2017 include:
PhD Student Sponsorship Initiative: The PhD student sponsorship initiative established and sponsored by the MTT-S Administrative Committee will be back for IMS2017!
Project Connect: Provides under-represented minority engineering students the opportunity to attend IMS2017 to interact with practicing engineers, to learn about the exciting new technologies being developed today, and to introduce students to the variety of careers in the area of microwave engineering.
STEM: Teaching that inspires…students that aspire – an exciting STEM program exposing middle school and select high school students, as well as their teachers, to RF/microwave technology.
Student Design Competitions: All eligible students and/or student teams are invited to consider taking part in one or more of the Student Design Competitions (SDCs) during IMS2017. SDCs are some of the most exciting events at IMS2017 and allow students to put theories into real hardware and software designs.
Student Paper Competition: The purpose of the Student Paper Competition (SPC) is to recognize outstanding technical contributions from individual students. SPC finalists must present their papers at the assigned IMS2017 session, and also at the SPC Interactive Forum (separate from the regular Interactive Forum sessions) for judging by a specially formed SPC committee of experts.
Student Volunteer Opportunities: IMS2017 will have a need for student volunteers for a variety of activities, follow the link for details. Applications for student volunteers is OPEN! Register early for priority volunteer times. Space is limited.
Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) Competition: New for IMS2017, this competition is designed for eligible students and Young Professionals, who indicate upon submission of a paper their desire to enter the competition and whose paper is accepted for either oral or interactive forum presentation.
Young Professionals: The IEEE MTT-S Young Professionals invite all student members, young professionals, and their guests to a complimentary reception at IMS2017.
Hackathon: New event at IMS2017, 30-Minute Circuits will allow competitors to race to the finish to see who is the ultimate RF circuit hacker!
